From 26 June to 30 July 2026, Corinthia Palace Malta becomes a stage for cinema as it welcomes Icons of Film, a new exhibition by acclaimed British-Maltese photographer Lorenzo Agius. Opening alongside the Mediterrane Film Festival, the exhibition unfolds throughout the hotel, from the lobby to Villa Corinthia and a series of public spaces, creating an immersive journey through the worlds of film, portraiture and storytelling.

THE PHOTOGRAPHER

Meet Lorenzo Agius

British-born Maltese photographer Lorenzo Agius is celebrated for creating some of the most recognisable images in contemporary culture. Rising to international acclaim in the 1990s through his iconic portraits for Trainspotting, he has since photographed many of the defining figures of modern cinema, alongside leading names in music, fashion and the arts.

Known for his ability to reveal both the public persona and private character of his subjects, Agius' work combines elegance, intimacy and a distinctly cinematic sensibility. Through exhibitions in Malta and around the world, he continues to explore themes of identity, celebrity and the enduring allure of portrait photography.

The exhibition

Icons of Film

Bringing together more than 60 portraits from Agius' celebrated archive, Icons of Film offers a rare encounter with some of cinema's most influential personalities. Spanning over three decades, the collection captures moments of charisma, vulnerability and transformation, revealing the human stories behind familiar faces.

Presented throughout Corinthia Palace, the exhibition transforms the hotel into a gallery of cinematic portraiture, inviting guests and visitors to experience photography not as a backdrop, but as part of the journey itself.
