Corinthia-Lisbon-Markets-in-Lisbon-Flea-Market

From vintage furniture to collectable antiques, these markets in Lisbon are a treasure trove for those who enjoy shopping.

Paris, London, Milan – these cities may be known for their luxury goods, but in Lisbon the focus is more on heritage and craftsmanship than on designer brands. These are excellent places to shop for antiques and vintage pieces, many of which can be found at markets across the city.

Feira da Avenida, Avenida da Liberdade

Collectors of rare and high-quality antiques should head straight to the antiques market on Avenida da Liberdade, where many of Lisbon’s most well-known and respected antique dealers are present. The items on sale may come at a higher price, but authenticity and quality are guaranteed. In fact, you are unlikely to find better antiques anywhere else in the city.

It takes place on the second weekend of every month.

Feira da Ladra, Campo de Santa Clara

For more affordable prices, Feira da Ladra is the ideal place to find second-hand items. Just a short walk from the Church of São Vicente de Fora, this historic market brings together traders specialising in antiques, vintage clothing, household goods and handicrafts. The atmosphere is lively, and bargaining is part of the experience, so it’s worth practising your negotiating skills.

It takes place every Tuesday and Saturday, from 9am to 6pm.

Crafts & Design Market, Jardim da Estrela

This crafts and design market is one of the most picturesque in the city, functioning more as a meeting point for Lisbon’s creative community than as a traditional market. As well as shopping for handicrafts and alternative souvenirs (many of which are handmade by Portuguese artisans), visitors can enjoy live music and cultural performances, offered free of charge as part of the market experience.

It takes place on the first weekend of every month.

Belém Antiques and Crafts Market

Every month, this market takes over the gardens of the Jerónimos Monastery in Belém. You can combine sightseeing with shopping by visiting the historic monument and then browsing the open-air market. It is mainly dedicated to antiques, with traders showcasing everything from old books and records to collectable coins and stamps, and even vintage photography equipment – vendor Carlos Nunes claims to have cameras that once belonged to spies.

It takes place on the first and third Saturdays of every month.

LX Market, Alcântara

Located within LX Factory, this market is a hub of creativity and young talent, blending traditional arts and crafts with contemporary ideas in a distinctive setting. From art, fashion and jewellery by emerging Portuguese artists and designers to second-hand goods and vintage furniture, there is plenty to discover.

It takes place every weekend.
