Meet Anna Westerlund
Anna Westerlund is a Portuguese ceramic artist whose work is rooted in drawing, colour, texture and the expressive possibilities of clay. Born to a Swedish father and a Portuguese mother, she grew up between two cultures, later studying Marketing and Advertising before finding her artistic path through ceramics at AR.CO in Lisbon. Her work has since gained international recognition, with pieces exhibited at the MoMA Shop in New York and at the Portugal Convida visual arts exhibition in Barcelona.
Her practice is guided by a deep respect for the handmade process. In her work, imperfection is not something to erase, but part of the story of each piece, shaped by time, experimentation, emotion and the touch of the hand. This approach gives her ceramics a sense of intimacy and warmth, reflecting the belief that objects can carry both memory and feeling.
