A taste of home in the heart of Budapest
Moving to a new country always brings discoveries: the flavours that win you over, the words that stick in your mind, and the little rituals that quietly become part of your everyday life. For Jelena, Guest Relations Manager from Serbia, and Oliver, Restaurant Supervisor from Macedonia, life in Budapest has been just that: a collection of moments that turned a beautiful city into a true home.

Oliver Avramovski
Restaurant Manager, from Macedonia
As Restaurant Manager, Oliver is one of those faces guests remember. His calm confidence and friendly manner make every meal at Brasserie & Atrium feel effortless. Over the years, Budapest has grown close to his heart, a place where his passion for hospitality and his love for vibrant city life meet perfectly.
“The first Hungarian dish I fell in love with was goulash soup,” he recalls with a smile. “It reminded me of my childhood: my mum used to make something very similar. One spoonful and I was back home again.”

His favourite Hungarian word also comes from the heart: “Szívesen!” he says. “It means ‘you’re welcome’, and it fits so well with what we do every day: making guests feel comfortable and cared for.”
When asked about life in Budapest, Oliver’s enthusiasm is immediate. “The city never sleeps. There’s always something happening, whether it’s sport, culture or just a night out with friends. It’s full of opportunities and keeps on developing. You can feel the energy everywhere.”
Jelena Sárközi
Guest Relations Manager, from Serbia
If Oliver’s calm defines the restaurant, Jelena’s warmth defines the lobby. As Guest Relations Manager, she’s the one guests turn to for local recommendations, last-minute arrangements or a friendly chat after a long journey. Her joy in connecting with people has made her a natural ambassador of Corinthia’s welcoming spirit.
“The very first Hungarian dishes I fell in love with? That’s a hard one,” she laughs. “I love both káposztás tészta (cabbage pasta) and mákos guba (poppy seed cake). They’re simple but delicious. Comfort food that makes any cold day feel like home.”

Like Oliver, she has a soft spot for the quirks of the Hungarian language. “Undorító!” (disgusting) she says, smiling. “It sounds beautiful, but the meaning is the total opposite! It always makes me laugh.”
When she’s not at the hotel, Jelena loves soaking in the city’s café culture. “My favourite spot is a small coffee shop just across from St Stephen’s Basilica. Sipping a cappuccino with that view never gets old,” she says. “I always recommend it to guests. It’s the perfect place to slow down and take in the beauty of Budapest.”
Where Stories Meet
From Sunday lángos at the market to quiet coffee breaks overlooking the Basilica, Jelena and Oliver have found their rhythm in Budapest: a city that embraces everyone willing to make it their own. Their stories reflect what makes life at Corinthia so special: people who bring their passions, their warmth and a piece of home into everything they do.
