Summer Music Festivals in Prague

The Czech Republic may be known for its history and culture but come summer it’s all about music festivals in Prague

Prague may be known for its history and architecture, but there’s also a burgeoning live music scene that’s putting the city on the map for festivalgoers. As the capital’s music offerings diversify, its reputation grows, attracting bigger crowds and better headliners. Every summer the streets come alive with music, whether that’s classical at Prague Proms, rock at United Islands of Prague or dance at Let It Roll Summer. Follow this guide to the top music festivals in Prague to discover the breadth of choice in the Czech Republic.

Respect Festival

If popular chart music just doesn’t hit the right note, why not try world music at Respect Festival? Taking place in the gardens of the Prague Exhibition Grounds in Holešovice, the annual celebration hosts music from Africa, Europe and beyond. It’s a great opportunity to broaden your musical horizons and witness performances by musicians from across the globe, many of whom will appear in the Czech Republic for the first time.

Prague Proms

Inspired by London’s BBC Proms, Prague Proms is one of the biggest celebrations of classical and jazz music in the country. Highlights include performances by Danny Elfman,  Denise Donatelli and many more. Taking place between Smetana House at Municipal House and the Loop Jazz Club, Prague Proms is one of our favourite music festivals in Prague.

United Islands of Prague

United Islands of Prague not only unites the islands of the capital, it also brings together music lovers of all genres including rock, pop, indie, electronic, folk, jazz and experimental. Taking place every June since 2004, it’s the largest open-air music festival in Prague and hosts stages on Kampa, Střelecký and Slovanský islands. Festivalgoers can look forward to an eclectic blend of fresh names and international bands, as well as solo singers and DJs.

Let it Roll Summer

If you’re into electronic music, plan your trip to Prague around the summer edition of Let It Roll. The lively festival presents three days of non-stop drum & bass featuring many of the world’s D&B heavyweights. As well as headliners, there will also be a packed programme of rising talent from around the world. The festival site is just outside of Prague but there are shuttles from Prague Airport and the city centre.

1st – 4th August 2019

Extending festival season into the autumn, Transmission is the biggest dance music party in the city – the light shows alone are enough to entertain. Add to that progressive dance and trance beats and a mass of special effects, and it becomes a show to remember. It’s on for one day only, so make sure to buy your tickets in advance.
