I've been with Corinthia for over a year now and the more time I spend here, the more I love the people I work with. There's a definite sense of family between the employees, everyone looks after each other.
The best part of my job is the people I meet. From the guests who enjoy afternoon tea with us all the time to those who have never experienced it before, every day is different and this keeps the job interesting.
Luxury is the best level of service but with a human touch. Luxury is uniqueness and at Corinthia London, every outlet has a uniqueness about them - from the wine, the Champagne, the food, everything. Luxury is knowing that the people who serve you know what they are talking about but also as a guest, you know that they will stand at the table and chat to you about your day. It's important not to intimidate your guests but to make them feel truly welcome.
If I was not waitressing, I would be acting. That is what I trained in and what I dream of.
I had two guests come in recently who had never left the USA and had never had afternoon tea. Everything was magical to them, from the choice of tea to the sandwiches and the cakes. It reminded me of how magical that experience can be, you forget when you do it as a job and it becomes something you do every day. Looking after guests like that reminds you of how you can make someone's experience so special.
