Bridal shoes inspired by the beauty of Corinthia London
Emmy Scarterfield, the Creative Director of shoe brand, Emmy London says Corinthia London is her go-to place for meetings, events and… of course, cocktails. Which is why she has designed an entire bridal shoe collection based on the beauty of Corinthia. We speak exclusively with Emmy to find out why this is a collaboration made in designer heaven.
How did the Corinthia-inspired collection come about?
I love Corinthia, it’s such a beautiful luxury London hotel. It has such a perfect balance of historical references with modern touches. Previous collections have been inspired by various destinations and architecture around the world, so it was great to gain inspiration closer to home and celebrate our London heritage.
Which aspects of the hotel in particular have inspired the collection?
Many of my meetings have taken place in the Crystal Moon Lounge, underneath the Baccarat crystal chandelier, so it was such a natural point of inspiration for me. Within the collection we have really embraced circle and loop formations found in the chandelier. The collection also incorporates hidden touches of red – each shoe is hand finished with a red crystal on the sole of the shoe. This is a nod to the hotel’s signature unexpected touch of red found within the chandelier which represents ‘the heart of the hotel’.
During the research and production process I took lots of photos of the hotel and sketches of the chandelier – this helped hone the circle and loop formations. I used these visuals to help translate my vision with our workshop in Portugal where each of our shoes are made. I visited the hotel numerous times to really capture the finer design details. We also worked closely with Swarovski on the trim applications and developed new techniques to incorporate loops and circles into our iconic collection.
Who is this collection made for?
Obviously, it would be perfect for brides getting married at Corinthia London – it would be a lovely touch to have shoes that are so connected to the venue itself. This collection is more modern than those we have created before – appealing to a bride who appreciates contemporary design and wants something special for their big day. As it is an exclusive collection, the shoes would also make for a wonderful wedding keepsake.
The collection is available for brides to order now from the Chelsea boutique andonline. The collection will also be available in the hotel from the end of October. Looking to book your wedding at Corinthia London?Start planning your dream day.
