Lovers of renowned Czech composer Antonin Dvorak can still get their fix of his life and works in the Czech capital despite the closure for refurbishment of the Antonin Dvorak Museum until spring.
The museum, which is part of the Czech Museum of Music, will showcase a permanent exhibition of Dvorak’s photographs and memorabilia on the ground floor of the museum from January 2017.
Dvorak’s compositions cleverly embodied the spirit of the country as they incorporated elements of Moravian and Bohemian folk music. His most famous compositions are Rusalka and New World Symphonie and his work has been performed in the world’s leading concert halls since the 1880s. An annual Dvorak Festival, ‘Dvorakova Praha’, has been staged in Prague since 2008. In 2017 this will take place between 7th – 23rd September.
