Situated in Prague’s quiet District 4, Corinthia Hotel Prague is a cool step away from the hustle of the Old Town. Patchworked with parks and cut through with tree-lined streets, this is a neighborhood that prizes peace. From historic sites to entertainment and shopping, here are some of the best things to do around Corinthia Prague.
Spectacular Sights
The 10th-century fortress of Vyšehrad, marked by the twin spires of the Basilica of St Peter and St Paul, is iconic of Prague’s picturesque skyline. It’s a storehouse of the Czech capital’s history, with its cemetery home to historic heavyweights such as Art Nouveau painter Alphonse Mucha and novelist Karel Čapek. An easy 15-minute stroll from Corinthia Prague, it would be wise to spend a few hours soaking up its atmosphere and admiring those incredible views across the city. Venture a little further and turn left along the banks of the Vltava. Walk as far as the immense swimming pool at Plavecký stadion Podolí, admiring the incredible views across the river, before cutting back towards the hotel through the characterful Podolí district.
Prime Entertainment
Corinthia Prague is a stone’s throw from the prestigious Prague Congress Centre. This gleaming complex is a base for large-scale commercial and political events, big-name concerts, sports tournaments, and music festivals. For something more low-key, sports enthusiasts can cheer alongside local fans at Folimanka Sports Complex. This well-equipped stadium, a five-minute walk north of the hotel, is where to catch a basketball home game. It’s also a popular venue for smaller concerts by homegrown musicians.
Shopping Local
Corinthia Prague is a 10-minute walk to Jezerka, where the busy streets harbour a down-to-earth shopping precinct. This convenient huddle of shops and cafés is where to pick up essentials from its supermarkets and pharmacies. Worth a visit for its novelty is the Království Chuti spice shop, a fragrant library of spices and condiments, beautifully presented in rainbows of serried ranks. Sklizeno Nusle is a gourmet grocer that’s generously stocked with delicious organic snacks and fresh juices. Look out for Toskana, a rather lovely delicatessen-style wine boutique and bistro that serves delicious cheeses and charcuterie alongside an excellent portfolio of Tuscan vintages.
Sporting Activities
Just like the rest of the city, the area surrounding Corinthia Prague has no shortage of scenic running routes. For a dedicated track, Folimanka Park is an easy five-minute jaunt north of the hotel. Here, tree-shaded paths spool for miles, making it a picturesque place to clock up a 5km jog. For something a little less conventional, look up Jasa Archery Direct in Jezerka. This friendly little center is a 20-minute stroll from Corinthia Prague, and it offers traditional target-practice sessions in its open-air arena. To test your aim in a more sociable environment, the Bowling Factory is closer to the hotel and is fashioned on an all-American bowling alley, with a pool, darts, and ping-pong alongside the lanes. Jugs of Czech beer are optional but recommended to get into the center’s lively spirit.
