Western-style nightlife is strictly limited in Khartoum, but the city has a growing collection of open-air cafes and eateries and the opening hours at more upmarket restaurants and hotels are usually flexible. The Sudanese love to sing, dance and perform for strangers and their traditionally prolonged and highly-colourful wedding celebrations – often held outside, in large tents – are open to all-comers.
