CORINTHIA HOTEL LISBON CELEBRATES TEN YEARS WITH LAUNCH OF LOBBY AND LOUNGE BAR RENOVATION

24th March 2014 – Corinthia Hotels marked the 10th Anniversary of the reopening of Corinthia Hotel Lisbon in Portugal with a reception hosted by Corinthia Group chairman Alfred Pisani.

As part of the anniversary celebrations, the hotel also inaugurated the newly renovated Lobby and Lounge Bar.   London based interior designers Goddard Littlefair managed the renovation, which includes a complete redesign of the lobby, reception and bar.  The new look has created a high-end 'residential' warm welcome and the feel of true luxury.

The lobby has received new luxurious leather sofas, lounge chairs, cocktail tables and hand-tufted carpets crafted in Portugal, transforming it into a warm and vibrant social place with soft colours and furniture where people will sit and enjoy the space.  Meanwhile the reception area has become more approachable making the check in process more personal and intimate. 

The lounge bar has a whole new look which has infused the area with a renewed energy and social vibe.   This new look lounge bar is designed to extend the theme of the warm 'residential' concept where guests can enjoy a more intimate atmosphere and feel more privacy and comfort.

The renovation has added subtle Portuguese details and finishes to link the hotel to its city, such as the tooled leather panels on the front of the reception desk that echo the tradition of leather craftsmanship in Portugal.

To mark its 10th year anniversary the hotel specially commissioned art from renowned local artists Diogo Navarro, Maria Antónia Santos and Susana Bravo, to depict the city’s rich history and diverse Portuguese culture and lifestyle. 

Group chairman Alfred Pisani stated “We are very proud of our hotel in Lisbon.  It is one of the largest hotels in the capital, which we re-opened 10 years ago and since then we have carried out a tremendous amount of improvements.  We purchased the hotel when it was operating as a four star property and showing heavy wear and tear.  Consequently, two years following acquisition, the Board decided to shut down the hotel and carry out a major investment to reposition the property to a five star level.”
