first recipients of alfred pisani corinthia hotels/new york university scholarship look forward to graduation

28th February, 2013 -  New York University students, Genevieve Arnold and Phillip Rogers, the first recipients of the Alfred Pisani Corinthia Hotels Scholarship, noted the major role the scholarship played in helping them achieve their academic and career goals as they look forward to graduation. Launched in support of students at the New York University School of Continuing and Professional Studies (NYU-SCPS) Preston Robert Tisch Center for Hospitality, Tourism, and Sports Management, the first NYU students were awarded the scholarship for 2012/2013 academic year.
The Alfred Pisani Corinthia Hotels Scholarship program, established by Corinthia Hotels Founder and Group Chairman Alfred Pisani, consists of two $10,000 scholarships (total of $20,000 per year) awarded annually to deserving undergraduate students, one US student and one international student, with financial need who are pursuing degrees in the fields of hotel and tourism management.

Mr. Pisani, said “we are especially pleased that the first scholarship winners were coincidentally interns at our Corinthia Hotels in Malta recently, and had the opportunity to experience firsthand  the ‘spirit of Corinthia’ and the warm Maltese hospitality. We hope that their time with Corinthia has enriched them professionally and we wish them well in achieving their career goals in the hospitality field when they graduate NYU. “

Both students, Arnold and Rogers, enthusiastically described their positive internship experience In Malta as providing experience not only in hospitality training, but also in learning about another culture. They both attributed the warm reception that they received by the staff to  Mr. Pisani’s personal leadership and his ‘craftsmanship of care’ philosophy.

According to Dean Bjorn Hanson, NYU’s Divisional Dean, Preston Robert Tisch Center for Hospitality, Tourism and Sports Management "The Corinthia Scholarship is a reflection of Mr. Pisani's personal commitment to bright, optimistic, motivated young men and women, not only to generously support the cost of their education, but to provide international experiences that will result in lifelong memorable and valuable personal and career experiences."
