St Petersburg guide

Built on the inspiration of Peter the Great over three centuries ago, this once capital of the Russian empire, St Petersburg, with its maze of romantic bridges and canals, is as majestic now as during the rule of the Tsars.

With over 200 museums, beautiful parks and palaces, an exciting nightlife and a culture built on a passion for art, music, dance and literature, it is a breathtaking journey into a society with a rich heritage. Baroque and neo-classical architecture dominate the skyline and the historical Palace Square at the heart of the city. Home to the Mariinsky Theatre, the Winter Palace, the Hermitage and St Isaac’s Cathedral, this ‘Window to the West’ is an unforgettable destination.

Four days of city pleasures

Day 1

Take a sightseeing city tour and be amazed by the beauty of its architectural heritage and the ‘symphony’ of rivers and canals on which the city stands.

Day 2

Discover the world of Art at the world famous Hermitage Museum, equally impressive as a structure as for its unique art collection.

Day 3

You cannot visit St Petersburg and miss out on a brilliant ballet performance at the one and only Mariinsky Theatre. But only after having had a taster at the hotel’s own ‘Somoilov’ museum, dedicated to the famous Mariinski dancer. Round off the evening with a gourmet meal at one of the theatre’s nearby restaurants.

Day 4

Explore the many historic suburbs of the city, housing the extravagant and magnificent palaces and parks of the former tsars.
