What is Corinthia DISCOVERY?

The Corinthia DISCOVERY programme is envisoned to be a guest recognition programme like no other. Innovative and distinctive in its benefits, It will reflect the diverse cultures of the alliance and of its individual member brands. It rewards members with hotel benefits and Local Experiences to make each stay more comfortable and memorable.

How can I join DISCOVERY and is there a fee?

Simply complete the online enrolment form. Membership is free.

What are Local Brand benefits?

Local Brand benefits are available to Black Level members when staying at a DISCOVERY member hotel and the types of benefit vary between brands, hence in essence it will not be the same in another brand.

When do I receive a DISCOVERY membership card?

If you enrol as a Gold level member through gha.com or any Corinthia Hotel, you will not receive a Gold membership Card in the mail. You are welcome to print a card through your online account, though your membership number is all that is needed for recognition on your next trip.

All members upgrading to Platinum or Black will receive a membership card in the mail approximately 4-5 weeks after they upgrade.

How can I view my account status?

You can view your account, check your profile, and edit your preferences by logging in to your Member Area.

Why am I missing room nights from my account?

Not all room nights are eligible for contributing towards your membership level or earning a Local Experience Award. For example, there are several rate types that do not qualify for membership benefits, such as:

  • Tours Series Rates/Charters
  • Airline employee, Airline Crew Rates
  • Travel Agent employee rates
  • Hotel employee and staff rates
  • Friends and Family rates
  • Complimentary stays including redeeming prize/gift vouchers

Furthermore, only the room nights spent at the hotels after you enrol into DISCOVERY are counted towards earning a Local Experience Award.

If I see an ‘NA’ in the nights column of my past stays. What does this mean?

This means that your stay has been recorded, but not validated yet for eligibility. Generally this can take up to 3 days.

What is the difference between eligible and ineligible stays?

Information of eligible and ineligible room nights / stays are defined within the terms and conditions of the programme, but generally eligible room nights / stays will be accumulative towards your membership upgrade to the next level and the award of Local Experiences.

What is a Local Experience?

A Local Experience provides you, as a member, with an opportunity to discover the world outside of your hotel. It provides a local twist to a favourite attraction at your destination or gives you access to an activity you wouldn't normally be able to do. By using our local contacts we provide unique experiences to enrich your stay and bring the discovery element back into travel. Local Experiences are authentic, unique and original and layer onto your itinerary to create a memorable stay.

How can I earn a Local Experience?

Local Experience Awards can be earned as follows:

  • PLATINUM LEVEL LOCAL EXPERIENCE AWARDS are earned*...
    - upon attaining Platinum Level membership (after staying 10 nights in GHA hotels within a year)
    - when staying at another GHA brand for the first time (as a Platinum Level Member)
    - Upon renewing your Platinum Level membership status by spending more than 10 nights at GHA hotels annually
  • BLACK LEVEL LOCAL EXPERIENCE AWARDS are earned*...
    - upon attaining Black Level membership (after spending 30 nights at GHA hotels within a year)
    - when staying at another GHA brand for the first time (as a Black Level Member)
    - upon renewing your Black Level membership status by spending over 30 nights at GHA hotels annually

Membership renewals are issued in February following a full Membership year.

How do I redeem a Local Experience?

You can redeem a Local Experience Award after logging in to your DISCOVERY Member account. From here, you can browse through our selection of Local Experiences, filtering by award level, Local Experience category, GHA Hotel Brand or Destination. Once you have found a Local Experience that you are interested in, the ‘Redeem’ button will appear near it (provided you have a Local Experience Award to redeem on your account).

Upon clicking ‘Redeem’, you will be asked to select the award you’d like to redeem (if applicable). You should then enter the date when you wish to participate in the Local Experience and enter the confirmation number for your reservation at the participating hotel.

After confirming your selections, you will be presented with a confirmation screen detailing the summary information and a confirmation email will automatically be sent to your previously provided email address. Please present a print-out of the confirmation email to the hotel upon check-in.

Why does the ‘Redeem’ button not appear for me?

If you do not see the ‘Redeem’ button beside a Local Experience, it may be because you are not logged in. If you are logged in using your DISCOVERY Membership information and do not see the ‘Redeem’ button, it may be a case where you have not yet earned a sufficient Local Experience Award needed to redeem the Local Experience that you chose (i.e. a Platinum Local Experience Award cannot be used toward a Black Local Experience).

For how long does a Local Experience Award last?

Validity periods for Local Experience Awards differ according to their tier level. Platinum Awards are valid for 12 months and Black Awards are valid for 15 months.

Must I have a valid stay at the hotel to reserve a Local Experience?

Yes, a valid stay is required for the time period when you wish to participate in your Local Experience.

Can I book a Local Experience when I get to the hotel?

This is at the discretion of the hotel. Some Local Experiences require time in advance for preparation as well as several weeks notice (i.e. select concerts and ticketed events). Please check the individual terms and conditions for each Local Experience.

How do I cancel a Local Experience?

You can cancel a previously booked Local Experience by logging in to your Member account and selecting the ‘View My Account’ menu. Here you’ll see a list of Available, Reserved and Past Awards. In the ‘Reserved Awards’ section, click on the ‘Cancel’ button beside the Award you wish to cancel. Upon confirming this choice, you’ll receive a cancellation email and you’ll see that this Award is now listed within the ‘Available’ section of your account.

Why do I have to pay for my Local Experiences? And which ones are free?

Local Experiences are specially designed activities which are put together by the hotels and are not generally available to the public. Local Experiences are to give you the privileges of avoiding some of the unmanageable arrangements or places where you normally cannot get to. The Local Experiences may be a value added benefit the hotel add to a e.g. select concerts and ticketed events.

At Corinthia, we always strive to provide the best rates on our website. If you don’t think we have, we’ll pay for 100% of your room on the first night, and price match the rest. Should you find a lower price elsewhere, please submit a claim within 24 hours of your original booking and we will respond within two working days. Please note, this also applies to discounts and promotions available on Corinthia.com.

Process for making a claim:

Step 1. If within 24 hours of a confirmed reservation with Corinthia Hotels made on Corinthia.com, you find a lower rate for the same hotel, room type, inclusions, stay dates, discounts and payment conditions, please contact the relevant email address from the list below to make your claim. All claims must be made within 24 hours of the original booking and at least 24 hours prior to the standard check-in time of the hotel.

Step 2. Your claim should be supported by the URL where the lower rate was found and a screen shot which clearly displays the date of stay, room type, same hotel, inclusions and payment conditions of the lower rate offering on the competing website. Please include your contact information (name, email and phone number).

Step 3. If we are able to verify that the lower rate found qualifies for the Best Rate Guarantee, and all other terms and conditions are met, Corinthia Hotels will pay for 100% of the room charges of your first night, and will price match the room for the rest of your stay. You will be charged for all nights booked at the matched rate, minus the first night which will be free.

Terms and Conditions:

Corinthia Hotels guarantees the best online rate on corinthia.com based on the following terms and conditions:

1. Your original booking must have been made through corinthia.com.
2. The lower rate must be found and the claim submitted by email within 24 hours of the original booking and at least 24 hours prior to the standard check-in time at the hotel. If the original booking was made within 24 hours of arrival, the Best Rate Guarantee is not applicable.
3. The Best Rate Guarantee only applies to published rates available to the general public online, which can be found and booked immediately without any kind of restriction or payment restrictions.
4. The lower rate found must be for exactly the same booking criteria - the same hotel, the same room type, same inclusions, the same stay dates, same number of guests, the same rate description and, if applicable, the same promotion. The cancellation and advance purchase policy and all other terms and conditions of the stay must also be identical. If the claim refers to a reservation consisting of several nights' accommodation, the average rate for each night will be compared to the average rate for each night, for an identical reservation, using the website where the lower rate is found.
5. Corinthia Hotels will verify the lower rate claim and respond within two working days of the claim being made. *Claims will be processed from Monday to Friday, between 9am to 5pm, at the hotel's local time.
6. The rate comparison will be made net of any taxes, gratuities or any other fees or charges associated with the room rate, and the lower rate must still be available at the time the hotel validates the claim.
7. The Best Rate Guarantee is void where prohibited by law. Corinthia Hotels reserves the right to modify or cancel its Best Rate Guarantee policy at any time in its sole discretion and without prior notice.
8. Corinthia Hotels has the sole right and discretion to determine the validity of any claim, including without limitation, determining that the lower rate found is genuinely available and that the claim meets all terms and conditions. In case of dispute, Corinthia Hotels' decision is final.
9. In the case of a fully prepaid rate booked through corinthia.com, Corinthia Hotels will refund the difference to your credit card, if applicable, within 30 business days of submitting your claim. Corinthia Hotels is not responsible for any fees associated with cancelling a reservation made through a different channel.
10. Best Rate Guarantee will be suspended during times where corinthia.com or certain rates are not available due to an outage, a technical issue or a circumstance beyond Corinthia Hotels' reasonable control.
11. The Best Rate Guarantee does not apply to rates found offline, negotiated corporate rates, group or MICE rates, opaque provider rates or rates requiring membership in a club or other organization, governmental rates, direct mail or email solicitations, rates offered by providers that do not supply the name or location of the hotel until after a reservation has been made or other rates that are not available to the general public. We reserve the right to deny a claim if the availability of the Competing Rate cannot be independently verified at the time of processing the claim.
12. The Best Rate Guarantee does not apply to packaged rates. Packaged rates include Hotel accommodations sold as part of a travel package in which the Hotel does not provide all services (including but not limited to airfare and/or car rental, tours etc.) and Hotel accommodations sold with additional amenities.
13. Corinthia Hotels may deny a claim where the difference between the rates is less than 1%.
14. If the Competing Rate is in a different currency from the rate booked on corinthia.com, the Competing Rate will be converted into the same currency as the rate offered on our website using the exchange rate as published in www.xe.com in place at the time the initial reservation was made. Discrepancies may occur between Corinthia Hotels' rate and the Competing Rate due to differences in exchange rate sources. If the rate discrepancy is solely due to exchange rate fluctuations, we reserve the right to deny the claim.
